Hans Figura

Austrian 1898-1978

A contemporary of two other famous Austrian artists—Luigi Kasimir and T.F.Simon—Hans Figura was amongst the great pioneers in colour etching and aquatint. By the late 1920s, with studios in both Vienna and New York, Figura was well established as a regular exhibitor in these cities as well as in Paris, London and Berlin.

Figura produced landscapes in almost every European City, combining the intricacies of colour etching and aquatint with amazing results. Highly successful during the golden era of this demanding medium, Figura’s work is still sought after by fine art collectors today.
